Once again we are speeding toward March with reckless abandon. Spring is just around the corner and so too is conference season. Each year these events give us not just a wealth of new education in our selected profession, they often inspire and energize us to be better at what we do.

Each year the Nebraska Planning and Zoning Association (NPZA), along with their sister organization the Nebraska Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA-NE) hold the Nebraska Planning Conference. It’s a unique partnership between two different organizations with a common goal in planning and zoning leadership for the state of Nebraska. The result is an affordable source of planning and zoning information for small town city clerks, planning commissioners, and rural county zoning administrators. Yet, at the same time it provides higher-end education and CM for AICP certified planners from the larger communities.

This year’s conference has a special focus on disaster mitigation and recovery as well as affordable housing. Some of the notable speakers are:

  • Bill Kelly (@BillKelly_NET) – Senior Producer, NET
  • Kurt Christiansen, FAICP (@basicla) – President of APA
  • Joel Albizo, FASAE, CAE (@JoelAlbizo) – Chief Executive Officer of APA and AICP
  • Jim Schwab (@jc_scwab) – Former APA Hazard Mitigation and Disaster Recovery Planning Division (HMDR) Chair

For those with involvement in the planning and zoning field in Nebraska this conference is a must. Check out the NPZA webpage for more.
