A few weeks ago I reported about HGTV’s spin off of their TV show Home Town. Erin and Bill Napier’s hit series Home Town will be expanded to renovate a community. With Home Town Takeover, they’ll be looking at renovating local single-family homes, parks, community centers and more. To select a community to renovate (and to spur interest in the show), HGTV set up a contest for small towns throughout the country to submit why they should be selected for the show.

Since HGTV rolled out the press release on the contest a number of communities throughout the Midwest have risen to the challenge. This includes a number of communities in Nebraska. Thank you to Nebraska Adventures Facebook Group, we have the opportunity to see some of those entries.

Eustis, Nebraska

Little Eustis put together a very well-produced video for a town of only 400. It really sells you on this community in South-Central Nebraska.

Arlington, Nebraska

Arlington’s video provided some history, potential downtown building rehabilitation targets, as well as some heartfelt stories from residents.

Thedford, Nebraska

Thedford’s submittal was personal, playful, and truly gave you a home town feel. It is uplifting what this woman from a town of 188 almost due north of North Platte was able to compile.

Sterling, Nebraska

With a population of only 476, Sterling is at a disadvantage when compared to larger communities with the money to spend on high-end video submittals. But this short summary, narrated by the village board chair, provides a good reflection on the community’s needs.

Good luck to these communities and the other rural communities throughout the United States that submitted!
