Recently I witnessed a community event that was experiencing record turnouts. With the vaccination numbers going up, a number of the social distancing requirements have been relaxed and people are itching to get back together. That’s why board members of the Nebraska Planning and Zoning Association (NPZA) and the Nebraska Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA-NE) moved the annual Nebraska Planning Conference to September. It was their hope that moving the conference from March to September would allow it to return to an in-person event.

The Nebraska Planning Conference (#NEPC) is an affordable source of planning and zoning information for small town city clerks, planning commissioners, and rural county zoning administrators. Yet, at the same time it provides higher-end education and CM for AICP certified planners from the larger communities.

This year’s conference has tracts on housing, economic development, and rural issues. Some of the notable speakers are:

  • Mitch Silver, FAICP (@mitchell_silver) – NYC Parks Commissioner, APA National representative
  • Lauren Driscoll, AICP (@lmkdiva) – Director at Large, APA National

For those with involvement in the planning and zoning field in Nebraska this conference is a must. Check out the NPZA webpage for more.
