The Michigan Economic Development Corporation has awarded nine communities with grants for local businesses. More than $260,000 has been awarded in grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 to 11 small, local businesses in these localities.

Michigan Economic Development CorporationThe Match on Main program, as it is called, provides grants to Select or Master level Michigan Main Street communities and their eligible businesses that are seeking support. Grant funds can help pay for interior building renovations, furniture and fixtures, permanent equipment, point of sale systems, marketing expenses, and inventory to help the selected businesses.

While the grant funds are helping small businesses in Michigan, they are also infusing funds into local communities. In addition to the $260,000 in grant funds from MEDC, matching funds for these projects totaled $1,185,012. This created an infusion of $1,445,000 into the economies nine communities.
