In this ongoing series regarding disaster recovery in light of the recent floods in the Midwest Rural Resurrection has highlighted a number of different aspects of disaster recovery. One of the most important, of course, is the availability of funding for recovery efforts.

As stated previously, although this is a blog mainly for rural communities, farming is the heart of most rural communities. When farmers are financially impacted, nearby communities are impacted as well. So providing a helping hand to farmers is important as well.

Recently, the Center for Rural Affairs posted about the availability of funds for farmers affected by the flooding. For Iowa farmers they pointed out that they are partnering with Farm Aid and Iowa Farmers Union to help recovery efforts. Iowa farmers impacted by the recent flooding may be eligible for a $500 grant to help with personal expenses.

For funding available to farmers in Nebraska, Interchurch Ministries of Nebraska is partnering with Farm Aid and the Center for Rural Affairs to assist farmers impacted by recent flooding.

Their post on the Center for Rural Affairs website has more information and contact numbers to answer questions for applicants:

For those who want to help out, there even a link to donate to the Farm Aid Family Farm Disaster Fund. Contributions help support emergency grants for farm families. The fund also assist in outreach and education regarding farm recovery options, mental health resources, federal funding opportunities, and more.
