Help to Small Businesses Impacted by COVID-19

The recent economic downtown due to the COVID-19 outbreak is hurting nearly everyone. Sure, Proctor and Gamble (Charmin and Clorox), Lysol, and other personal hygiene products that are in (ridiculously) high demand are making out like bandits. But it is the small businesses that are damaged the most. They often have the tightest budgets and the most to lose.

Thankfully there is help on the way. Economic Injury Disaster Loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration are now available in select states, with a list that is growing.

Outside of SBA’s loans, there are similar programs popping up in Nebraska, Kansas, Michigan, and other Midwest states. Forbes has published information on a host of other programs available to small businesses. Even Facebook has a grant program available now to small businesses. This list will continue to grow as other financial assistance programs to small businesses continue to roll out over the next few weeks.

The problem is, business owners in many small communities will not find these programs. If they do, sometimes it is too late to save their business. Rural communities need to take proactive steps to let the small businesses in their communities know of these programs as an effort in economic sustainability.

Help those who help your community.
