APA National 2019 – San Francisco

• This year the American Planning Association National Planning Conference is in San Francisco, California. With plenty to see like the Golden Gate Bridge and Giradelli Square and a variety of restaurants to make a foodie like me drool, there is plenty that San Francisco has to offer. And yes, I will be taking in at least one ballgame.
• However, I’ve also packed by my schedule full of intriguing sessions to attend during the conference. Sessions like, “Investing in Health, Revitalizing Rural Communities”, “Placemaking’s Role in Preserving Community Identity”, and “Measuring Downtown’s Value – To Everybody!” are drawing me in like a moth to floodlight. Sure, most of the sessions are urban-oriented. But there’s always tidbits that can be taken from most sessions that are applicable to the rural community environment.
